The Teahouse of Fear

Come in.
Close the door gently behind you.
The wind has been loud tonight.

Fear is not the enemy.
It is the sentinel at the gate.
The whisper before the storm.
The ache that reminds you: you matter.

Fear says:
“There is something to lose.”
“There is danger nearby — or remembered.”
“Please, look again.”

It often arrives too early, or too loud.
It doesn't always know how to whisper.
But it is trying to protect something precious.

What Is Fear Trying to Tell You?

  • That something feels uncertain, unsafe, or out of control.
  • That you’ve been hurt before and your body remembers.
  • That part of you wants to prepare, to shield, to retreat.
  • That you care, because you’re afraid to lose.

Invite Fear in for Tea

You don’t need to chase Fear away.
You don’t need to give it the keys to your house either.
Just… invite it in.

Ask it gently:
“What are you afraid of?”
“What memory are you carrying?”
“What do you need from me right now?”

Let it speak.
Listen without agreeing.
Thank it for its vigilance.
Then decide, with your wisest self, what happens next.

To be fully alive, fully human, and completely awake is to be continually thrown out of the nest.
