Appeasing and Attuning, The Pull Toward Others
Appeasing and attuning is a state where your attention moves outward. Your system is focused on connection, harmony, and keeping things okay. This is not manipulation. It is a protective strategy that learned connection feels safer than conflict.
You may notice yourself scanning faces, anticipating needs, smoothing tension, or agreeing quickly before checking in with yourself. Inside, there can be anxiety, tightness, or a quiet fear of upsetting someone. Even when you are being kind, you may feel invisible to yourself.
The invitation here is not to stop caring about others. The invitation is to include yourself in the circle of care. When your system learns that your needs can exist alongside connection, this state can soften without breaking relationships.
